Fear, Inspiration, & Haiti
Fear, Inspiration & Haiti

I woke up partially and tried to shake off this new chill that has invaded my home this winter. Preparing to head out for the day, I tuned in reluctantly to the news. "Earthquake in Haiti" is spelled out and running along the bottom continuously. Images of a devastated Port-Au-Prince, Haiti and an its people ran across the screen.

At first glance, I prayed "Lord, have mercy!" It was like an involuntary movement. The words rolled into airspace and became audible. Simultaneously, in my mind, I continued to pray for those involved, and the images continued to splash.

The reporter states,'There are more buildings down than standing'. She adds that the infrastructure is not set up to handle such an event as this. More prayer for the people and their families follow.

Earthquakes. Unpredictable. Paralyzing. Devastating.
But friends, take heart, and be not afraid. Praise God throughout this time.

It's difficult to not recognize how fragile life is. It's even more difficult not to realize the power of God, how He makes us resilient, and how we are not powerless in spite of our circumstances!

In the midst of the images of destruction, the reporter cut over to the phone line where an upbeat voice awaits. It was the voice of a father whose daughter was trapped in rubble in Haiti. His voice depicted a man who was almost smiling on the other end. His tone was so unusually cheerful until the reporter commented on it, as well. 'You sound mighty upbeat this morning' or something to that effect, she says.

The father goes on to explain how his daughter was a missionary that fell in love the people of Haiti. She was trapped in the rubble and called from her cell phone to alert rescue workers. Just a day after she was freed, she pushed to get back and help on the ground. Talk about resilience!

She prayed and pushed to give back. I was then reminded how we are so quick to give up when adversity faces us. Be it a minute, or even a mere second, we throw up our hands.
Lord, have mercy. This young lady realized that she could not be paralyzed by fear.

Through her love for Christ, she grabbed hold to power. Through her love for Christ, she found a love for the people and was determined to help. Through her love for Christ, she maintained a sound mind and strives to make a difference. She's inspired me and doesn't even know it.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7 KJV.

Power, love and sound mind. These are the things that the Lord has equipped His people with. A spirit of power, love, and sound mind is a triple threat to fear. By trusting and praising God through the circumstance, we become empowered! God's sovereignty is beyond measure.

His Witness family, let's continue to pray for the spirit of power, love, and of a sound mind and the people of Haiti, their family, and their entirety. Trusting God enough to take the victims to Him in prayer is the first line of defense. Get involved, donate, and see what we can do to help. Contact the Red Cross of your area and see what they need from you.

Somewhere in the 23 degree weather, I'm determined to press on, shake off the cold, and praise Him now for the victory!

Because it's not about us and all about Him, be blessed & be His witness!

EMBRACING WHO YOU ARE THROUGH YOUR FRAGRANCE

I would like to first give my Savior Jesus Christ honor & glory for he is greatly to be praised.  I love Him!

We like now in a time when there's much talk about reinventing one's self.  This may be a good idea and sounds wonderful, but the truth of the matter is true reinvention starts much deeper than a change of clothes, a change of education, and a change of jobs.  It begins with the heart, mind, and spirit; and only God can change that.

If you feel the need to reinvent yourself, be it because of your job situation, divorce, or some other event(s) that's changed your life as you know it, first start at the feet of Jesus.  Allow Him to restore, renew, rebuild and (yes, if necessary) reinvent you.

He cares about every situation in your life no matter how small or how large it seems.  Share it with Him. Give it to Him. Let Him do what He does best, like no one else can. Reinvent us!

Until next time, be blessed and be His witness!

FRAGRANCE: WHAT'S IN A NAME?

The next time you're near the fragrance department in any store, stop and read the names.  You see a little bit of everything.

Some perfumes and colognes in these stores have a tad of Envy.  Some have an Obsession. Be careful, you may find some Poison.  If you don't find what you're looking, you may tend to Covet ( a la Sarah Jessica Parker).  If all else fails, why not just be some one else altogether and put their attributes (good or bad) on you?

I'm not running a smear campaign. There are pleasant fragrances out there.  I just want to raise awareness of just how careful we must be when choosing what we put on our bodies.  We are the children of God, aren't we?

It a common fact that when choosing fragrances from the shelves, we tend to gravitate toward those names that we either currently identify with or aspire to be.

So, men and women of God, tell me this.  When is envy ever good? Why should we covet, or even wish to, when the Word clearly states in the Tenth Commandment, that thou shalt not covet (Exodus 20:17,KJV)?

I'm praying never to be Unforgivable, but then if I'm Poison, that just may be the case.  I could do this all day with bad names and then turn around and give good names as well.  The truth of the matter is...while considering the fragrance, consider the names also.

IT MAKES SCENTS TO WITNESS!

Smell is the sense that makes memories.  Indeed your sense of smell can rekindle images of fun summers, Mother's hugs, Dad's getting dressed for church, and that stylished woman that dressed sharp and always smelled of fine perfume.

It is said  that most people can distinguish more than 10,000 different odors.  Scent can powerfully affect our state of mind, as well as drive our hunger or thirst. It can relax or excite. It can draw one closer or drive them away.

Your personal fragrance speaks volumes about you; be it soft or feminine, bold or spicy, classsic or modern.  When you choose your fragrances, don't forget that it'll make a lasting impression on those around you. Make sure it really describes your taste, your style, and more importantly...your attributes.

His Witness Scents has an entire collection that focuses on memorable notes. These notes evoke a sense of beauty and style.  However, that's not where the experience ends.  His Witness fragrances and bath and body products draw you in.

You'll wear them with confidence.  The names however will truly set you apart.  Each has been prayerfully and carefully selected to become a ministering tool.  As you wear the your fragrance, you'll be reminded of who you are in Christ Jesus and be inspired to share Him with others.

Be bold.  Be blessed. Be His witness!
